Resolution 10238 RESOLUTION NO. 10238
WHEREAS it has come to the attention of the City Council
of the City of Miami Beach that the Committee on Ways and
Means of the House of Representatives of the Congress of the
United States has conducted hearings on various proposals to
extend the field of Federal taxation, and
WHEREAS it has further come to the attention of the City
Council of the City of Miami Beach that the said Committee,
during the course of said hearings, has considered proposals
to remove the existing exemption of income from State and
Municipal bonds from Federal taxation, and
WHEREAS the removal of such exemption will seriously im-
pair, if not utterly destroy the desirability of such bonds,
thereby seriously impairing and crippling the ability of
municipalities to finance urgent and imperative local im-
provements,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it is unalterably and ir-
revocably opposed to any proposed legislation designed to re-
move said exemption from Federal taxation, and that certified
copies of this Resolution be delivered to each and every mem-
ber of the House of Representatives and the Senate of the
Congress representing the State of Florida.
