Current Entertainment District/Ocean Drive Staffing Summary
(Through September, 2018)
Entertainment District Regular Patrol Staffing (24 hours a day)
-Minimum Staffing: 1 Sergeant, 5 Officers per shift
- 3 times a day, during shift overlap periods:
2 Sergeants, 10 Officers on patrol
- Every 24-hour period;
3 Sergeants, 15 Officers total on patrol
Additional Full-Time Personnel, Dedicated Specifically
to Ocean Drive:
- 2 Lieutenants
- 2 Sergeants
- 10 Officers

- to supervise all evening/overnight operations;
coordinate with Code Enforcement, Parking,
Parks, Sanitation, Transportation, other
government agencies, and outside law

- Focus: 900 block, heart of cabaret district

- Coordination of RDA, Homeless Unit and Area
4 personnel, along with community assistance

“Targeted Response to Area Concerns” (TRAC)
- Flexibility identified by Matrix staffing study
- Ad hoc crime-fighting teams, staffed up and
deployed to Entertainment District, depending
on daily staffing and needs on any given
evening
- Uniform or plain clothes, marked or unmarked
vehicles, foot patrol, bikes or ATVs as needed
for the night’s specific mission
- Coordinated missions/surges with other
crime-fighting specialists (e.g. Narcotics,
Crime Suppression Team, Traffic/LPR Unit,
Homeless Unit, outside law enforcement, etc.
