SUBJECT: Miami Beach Trolley System Recei es Highest Rating
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to share the results from the recent Mobility
Scorecard performed by Transit Alliance with support from the Miami Foundation.
Transit Alliance is a non-profit organization advocating for walkable streets, bikeable
neighborhoods and better public transit. Our campaigns combine data-driven research,
community engagement and policy advocacy to get Miami moving safer, faster and happier.
This annual Mobility Scorecard grades the health and performance of our transit system and as
well as other transit systems in Miami-Dade County. Combining data, analysis and
recommendations, it's designed to guide elected officials, community leaders, transportation
planners and the community on how we can move Miami forward, together.
I'm extremely pleased to say that Miami Beach was the only municipality to receive a four-star
rating for our trolley system and had the second highest ridership in the County. In addition, our
percentage of road miles with bike lanes was by far the highest of other municipalities with 11.69
percent and the second highest being Coral Gables with 4.21 percent.
I'm proud of the work our city has done to create a moveable and bikeable city and these results
prove that we are on the right track. To view the 2018 Mobility Scorecard you ca visit the Transit
