Called to order at 1:00 p.m.
Ongoing Business:
A. Approval of the June 12, 2018 minutes, Motion: Herb Sosa, Second: Cindy Brown
B. MBPD Updates – All good
C. GMCVB / social media updates – George Neary: Here to help even after retirement,
Josie Llado: GMCVB currently in annual planning, assigning writers to beats not just
events, building mobile friendly experience. Cindy: consider link to calendar
New Business:
A. Commissioner Alemán to visit meeting: City filming amicus on Conversion Therapy ban
for other municipalities being used. She also said the City is providing $250,000 for
Prep clinic. Dale Stine: Missing HIV services, transgender services, seniors.
B. Invitation to view City’s diversity training. Dale Stine will set up meeting for second
Tuesday of August.
C. Lambda Living- to expand on beach, per Cindy Brown.
Subcommittees Reports and Next Actions:
1) HRC Rating (Dale, Herb, Cindy, Liz)
Dale: Diversity training now includes gender identity, video training available for
viewing, self-submission deadline is flexible.
2) LGBTQ Visibility/Marketing/ Tourism(George, Gayle, Mark, Jamie, Alex, Stephen)
Cindy: suggested app, message campaign during Pride month to advertise as gay
friendly and enhance visibility. Gayle: monument update. No traction after item was
skipped. Herb: prioritize goals. Robin: develop list of goals for September meeting.
3) Health and Wellness (Ricki, Jamie, Craig, David, Robin)
Craig: has contact with health department and can see if they have any data for Miami
Beach. Craig will be lead on this subcommittee.
