Resolution 10892 RESOLUTION NO. 10892
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida heretofore has had occasion to formally express
ever-increasing alarm and grave concern over the number,
variety and multiplicity of immense works such as causeways,
ports, docks and channels projected or contemplated for
Biscayne Bay, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida desires to reiterate its unalterable opposition
to the construction of an Oil Refinery, its appurtenances,
and related works, in and about the waters and shores of
Biscayne Bay, and
WHEREAS, it is now a matter of overwhelming importance
and urgency that no such works as hereinabove enumerated
be projected, contemplated, or submitted for consideration
or approval unless each and every of the same be first
meticulously evaluated for its impact and effect upon life,
property and general welfare in the light, and with the
aid, of a hydraulic scale model of the waters of Biscayne
Bay,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Metropolitan
Dade County Commission be urged to acquire by construction
or purchase such scale model with all diligent speed for
the vital purposes aforesaid.
