RESOLUTION NO. 10910
WHEREAS, Ed Sullivan did originate his world-famous
television program from the Miami Beach Convention Hall Sunday
evening, January 13, 1963; and
WHEREAS, the Ed Sullivan Show was carried coast-to-coast
over the CBS television network -- and was viewed by millions
of people throughout the country; and
WHEREAS, thousands of Dade County residents and visitors
attended the live telecast at the Miami Beach Convention Hall
and were delighted by the performances of his renowned guest
artists; and
WHEREAS, he has helped immeasurably to spread the fame of
Miami Beach throughout the nation by displaying for his vast
audience our city' s glorious sunshine, incomparable facilities
and myriad activities for relaxation and pleasure; and
WHEREAS, Ed Sullivan has for many years evinced sincere
and continuing interest in the welfare and progress of Miami
Beach and has earned the high esteem and affection of our
citizenry;
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
Miami Beach pay fitting tribute to Ed Sullivan for his long-
standing cooperation and his most cherished friendship.
AND, FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that this resolution become
part of the permanent records of the City of Miami Beach and
a copy be presented to him as a tangible token of our very
warm and sincere appreciation.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 16th day of January, A.D. , 1963 .
