SUBJECT:MIAMI BEACH TROLLEY AND MIAMI-DADE TRANSIT CIRCULATOR RIDERSHIP
REPORT (FY2018 — 4TH QUARTER)
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to report ridership figures for the City of Miami Beach
Trolley System and Miami-Dade County bus circulators during the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year (FY)
2018, from July 1, 2018 to September 30, 2018.
KEY Q4 METRICS:
• Systemwide Average Daily Ridership: 13,709
• Systemwide Ridership Growth: 2% decrease as compared to previous quarter and 30%
increase as compared to Quarter 4 of last fiscal year
• Service Cost Per Passenger: $2.24
As illustrated in the attached ridership report (Attachment A), the North Beach Loop observed an average
daily ridership of 2,021 passengers during this quarter. The overall ridership of the North Beach Loop
during the fourth quarter of FY 2018 was 185,872 passengers. This represents an approximate 7%
decrease in ridership over the previous quarter and a 21% decrease in comparison to the same quarter
of the previous fiscal year (Attachment B).
The Middle Beach Loop observed an average daily ridership of 2,439 passengers and overall ridership of
224,541 passengers during the fourth quarter of FY 2018. This represents an approximate 3% increase
in ridership over the previous quarter and 38% decrease in comparison to the same quarter of the
previous fiscal year (Attachment B).
The Collins Express observed an average daily ridership of 4,621 passengers and an overall ridership of
425,320 passengers during the fourth quarter of FY 2018. This represents an approximate 2% decrease
in ridership over the previous quarter and a 52% increase in comparison to the same quarter of the
previous fiscal year (Attachment B).
The South Beach Trolley service observed an average daily ridership of 4,620 passengers and an overall
ridership of 425,494 passengers during the fourth quarter of FY 2018. This represents an approximate
1°/0 decrease in ridership over the previous quarter (Attachment B).
In summary, the City of Miami Beach trolley system provided transit service to a total of 1,261,227
passengers during the fourth quarter of FY 2018, approximately 4.8 million passengers from the
beginning of FY 2018 and cumulatively to over 10.5 million passengers from inception to the end of the
fourth quarter of FY 2018 (Attachment B).

In addition to the City's trolley system, during the fourth quarter of FY 2018, the County operated one (1)
circulator route entirely within City boundaries (Route 115).
Ridership figures for August and September 2018 have not yet been published by the County and will be
included in the next quarterly ridership report and issued via LTC. Based on the third quarter ridership
data for FY 2018, the Route 115 service experienced an 78% decrease in ridership as compared to the
third quarter of the previous fiscal year(Attachment B).
Overall ridership figures for both the City's trolley system and the County's Route 115 for previous fiscal
years have been included in Attachment C for reference.
