The goal of Hurricane Awareness Week is to educate the public about the dangers of hurricanes and to teach them how to develop plans to respond to them. Included in this initiative is hurricane preparedness, evacuation procedures, and post hurricane recovery. The Neighborhood Services Department will help to broadcast hurricane awareness at the June 1, 2003, Hurricane Information and Preparedness Fair and throughout the City by public outreach efforts including the provision of reference materials and guidelines.
