Resolution 11227 RESOLUTION NO. 11227
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida has been advised that the Metropolitan Dade County
Board of Commissioners is meeting on June 11, 1964 to take
such action as it deems appropriate upon the matter of an
application, or the withdrawal thereof, by Seadade Realty
Company for a permit to construct an oil refinery and ship
channel in Biscayne Bay, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach
has opposed such projects as being destructive of the public
welfare, and
WHEREAS, said City Council urges said County Commission
to deny such application if the same be pending,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the said County
Commission be urged to avoid future controversy such as was
inherent in said Seadade application by promptly initiating
action to rescind and repeal the Ordinance which rezoned
said applicant ' s land from Agricultural Use to Unlimited
and Unrestricted Industrial Use and to place the same in
such Use Classification which will permit only clean, "non-
smokestack" industry .
