PROVIDING FOR THE ELECTION OF A REGULAR
EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AS A
MEMBER OF THE PERSONNEL BOARD REPRESENTING
GROUP THREE .
WHEREAS , pursuant to the provisions of Section 4 of Chapter
18696, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1937 , as amended in 1955, it is
provided that there shall be three employees of Regular status
elected to the Personnel Board of the City of Miami Beach as
members thereof, and
WHEREAS, the term of office of the member of the Personnel
Board representing Group 3 of employees of Regular and Proba-
tionary status expires at midnight, July 31 , 1964 , and
WHEREAS , it is therefore necessary that an election be
called for the purpose of electing a member of the Personnel
Board to represent said Group 3 for the three-year term
commencing August 1 ,1964 ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, that a primary election and an
election are hereby called for the purpose of electing a member
of the Personnel Board for Group 3 , said primary to be held
between the hours of 7:00 A.M. a :00 P.M. on Tuesday,
July 21, 1964 , and said election to be held between the
hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 28, 1964
both at the Timekeeper's office, located at 2nd St. and Alton Rd.
SECTION 1: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed
to notify the members of Group 3 of the said
primary election a:Id election by posting notices stating the
time, place and purpose of same, in a conspicuous place in each
and every department of the City wherein members of Group 3
are employed.
SECTION 2: That for the purpose of holding and conducting said
primary and election, the City Clerk is hereby
authorized to appoint three (3) employees to serve as Inspectors
and Clerk.
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby appointed as
Supervisor of said primary and election, and is here-
by further instructed to provide ballots and all necessary para-
phernalia to the Clerk and Inspectors , to enable them to properly
hold and conduct said primary and election.
SECTION 4: That the Two (2) employees receiving the highest number
of votes cast at the primary on July 21, l9E4Group 3
shall be the only candidates for Board Member to be voted on at
the Election to be held onJuly 28, 1964; provided, however, that
should any employee receive a majority of the votes cast at the
primary, he shall be declared elected a member of the Personnel
Board and the election in said Group 3 , as herein planned, shall
be omitted.
SECTION 5: That immediately after the polls are closed in the
primary and in the election herein called, the Clerk
and Inspectors shall proceed to open the ballot box and count
the ballots cast, tabulating the result, and upon completion of
said count they shall promptly certify the result of said primary
or election, as the case may be, to the City Clerk in duplicate,
on forms to be supplied them by the said City Clerk

SECTION 6: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed
to present to the City Council, at its first meet.Lng
following the holding of said election, the Certificates of the
Clerk and Inspectors as to the result of said election, whereupon
this Body shall canvass said Certificates and declare the result.
