A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, FINDING AS TO THE NUMBER
OF FREEHOLDERS LEGALLY QUALIFIED TO PARTICIPATE
IN THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD JUNE 1, 1965; AND
CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION
AND DECLARING THE RESULT TO BE AGAINST THE ISSUANCE
OF BONDS IN THE TOTAL SUM OF $12,569,000.00 FOR THE
PURPOSES IN THIS RESOLUTION STATED.
WHEREAS, the City Clerk and Supervisor of Registration of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, has certified that the total number of
freeholders legally qualified to participate in the Special Election
held in said City on June 1, 1965 was 7,244, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has made a canvass of the returns of
the certificates of the Clerks and Inspectors who held and conducted
said Special Election held on June 1, 1965, such canvass having been
made solely, exclusively and entirely from such returns,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, that we do hereby find and declare that the
total number of freeholders who were qualified electors residing in
said City and who were determined by the City Clerk and Supervisor
to be legally qualified to participate in the Special Election held in
said City on June 1, 1965, was 7,244 and that a majority thereof parti-
cipated in said election, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby find and declare that the
total number of votes cast in said election in favor of the approval of
bonds and the total number of votes cast in said election against the
approval of the bonds were as follows:
UPON QUESTION NO. 1:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $1,095,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of MAKING IMPROVEMENTS to the
existing GRAVITY SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM?
2,677 votes were cast, of which 1$42 votes were "For Bonds" and
835 votes were "Against Bonds"
UPON QUESTION NO. 2:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $465,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of MAKING IMPROVEMENTS to the
existing SANITARY SEWER FORCE MAIN SYSTEM?
2,588 votes were cast, of which 1795 votes were "For Bonds" and
793 votes were "Against Bonds"
UPON QUESTION NO. 3:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $700,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of REPLACING PORTION OF THE
WATER SUPPLY MAIN on the VENETIAN CAUSEWAY from Miami
to Miami Beach and CONSTRUCTING EXTENSION to the WATER
SUPPLY SYSTEM?
2,515 votes were cast, of which 1652 votes were "For Bonds" and
863 votes were "Against Bonds"

UPON QUESTION NO. 4:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $840,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of CONSTRUCTING STORM SEWERS
throughout the City?
2,565 votes were cast, of which 1799 votes were "For Bonds" and
766 votes were "Against Bonds" .
UPON QUESTION NO. 5:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $36,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the payment of all or part of which a
special annual tax will be levied, the amount of which
levy will be reduced by collections from special
improvement assessments made against abutting property,
as authorized by law, for the purpose of PAVING the fol-
lowing courts:
Between Collins Avenue and Harding Avenue from 77th
Street to 79th Street, from 80th Street to 81st Street,
from 82nd Street to 87th Street;
The Courts between Alton Road and Michigan Avenue from
3rd Street to 4th Street;
The Court between Michigan and Jefferson Avenue from
2nd Street to 3rd Street;
The Court between 71st Street and Biarritz Drive from
Rue Versailles to Rue Vendome?
2,416 votes were cast, of which 1397 votes were "For Bonds" and
1019 votes were "Against Bonds" .
UPON QUESTION NO. 6:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $149,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the payment of all or part of which a
special annual tax will be levied, the amount of which
levy will be reduced by collections from s ecial
improvement assessments made against abut ng property,
as authorized by law, for the purpose of PAVING, (IN-
CLUDING SIDEWALKS AND STREET LIGHTING) the following
highways :
Lincoln Road from West Avenue to Biscayne Bay;
Bay Road from Lincoln Road to approximately 150 '
South of 15th Street;
Island Avenue South of Venetian Way;
Biarritz Drive from Calais Drive to Normandy Drive?
2,399 votes were cast, of which 1414 votes were "For Bonds" and
985 votes were "Against Bonds" .
UPON QUESTION NO. 7:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $23,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the payment of all or part of which a
special annual tax will be levied, the amount of which
levy will be reduced by collections from s ecial
improvement assessments made against abut ng property,
as authorized by law, for the purpose of PAVING, (IN-
CLUDING SIDEWALKS) the following highways:
West 40th Street from Garden Avenue to North Meridian
Avenue; (Sidewalks only)
North Meridian Avenue from West 39th Street to West
41st Street?
2,359 votes were cast, of which 1353 votes were "For Bonds" anq
1006 votes were "Against Bonds .

coupon bonds in the amount of $66,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the payment of all or part of which a
special annual tax will be levied, the amount of which
levy will be reduced by collections from s ecial
improvement assessments made against abut ng property,
as authorized by law, for the purpose of PAVING the
following highways :
West 39th Street from Garden Avenue to North Meridian
Avenue;
North Jefferson Avenue from West 41st Street to West
42nd Street
16th Street from West Avenue to Bay Road;
9th Street from Alton Road to West Avenue;
10th Street from Alton Road to West Avenue;
11th Street from Alton Road to West Avenue;
12th Street from Alton Road to West Avenue;
19th Street from Washington to James Avenue?
2,359 votes were cast, of which 1370 votes were "For Bonds" and
989 votes were "Against Bonds" .
UPON QUESTION NO. 9:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $320,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of RECONSTRUCTING
11th Street from Meridian Avenue to Alton Road;
15th Street from Alton Road to Bay Road;
North Bay Road from 20th Street to Alton Road at
Chase Avenue;
North Coconut Lane and South Coconut Lane?
2,320 votes were cast, of which 1294 votes were "For Bonds" and
1026 votes were "Against Bonds" .
UPON QUESTION NO. 10:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $300,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of LENGTHENING the existing
FISHING PIER AT BISCAYNE STREET IN THE ATLANTIC OCEAN?
2,316 votes were cast, of which 949 votes were "For Bonds" and
1367 votes were "Against Bonds" .
UPON QUESTION NO. 11:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $1,500,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of CONSTRUCTING A PUBLIC PARK
ON THE OCEAN FRONT extending from Collins Avenue to the
Atlantic Ocean and located BETWEEN 76th STREET AND 79th
STREET?
2,428 votes were cast, of which 1315 votes were "For Bonds" and
1113 votes were "Against Bonds" .

UPON QUESTION NO. 12:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $3,000,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%

ON THE OCEAN FRONT extending from Collins Avenue to the
Atlantic Ocean and located BETWEEN 81st STREET AND 87th
STREET?
2385 votes were cast, of, which 1232 votes were "For Bonds" and
1153 votes were "Against Bonds".
UPON QUESTION NO. 13:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $2,000,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum for the purpose of PROVIDING TV STUDIO AND
COMMUNITY FACILITIES?
2328 votes were cast, of which 1190 votes were "For Bonds" and
1138 votes were "Against Bonds".
UPON QUESTION NO. 14+:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $280,000.00, with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of constructing a new Fire
Station, including a Pumper of 750 gallons per minute
capacity?
2276 votes were cast, of which 1289 votes were "For Bonds" and
987 votes were "Against Bonds" .
UPON QUESTION NO. 15 :
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $750,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of relocating the City Yards
noil located at Alton Road and 2nd Street?
2198 votes were cast, of which 882 votes were "For Bonds" and
1316 votes were "Against Bonds".
UPON QUESTION NO. 16:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $540,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4+%
peer annum, for the purpose of widening Pine Tree Drive
from 51st Street to 63rd Street, including Curb, Gutter
and Parkway?
2228 votes were cast, of which 1072 votes were "For Bonds" and
1156 votes were "Against Bonds".

UPON QUESTION NO. 17:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $125,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, to supplement available funds, for the pur-
post of constructing a Baseball Grandstand in Flamingo
Park?
2377 votes were cast, of which 1306 votes were "For Bonds" and
1071 votes were "Against Bonds" .
UPON QUESTION NO. 18:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $65,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of constructing a Vehicular
Bridge from Park View Island to Tatum Waterway Drive?
2231 votes were cast, of which 911 votes were "For Bonds" and
1320 votes were "Against Bonds".
UPON QUESTION NO. 19:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $100,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of moving the Park Department
Nursery from the Old Municipal Golf Course to Bayshore
Golf Course?
2153 votes were cast, of which 816 votes were "For Bonds" and
1337 votes were "Against Bonds" .
UPON QUESTION NO. 20:
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $120,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4+%
per annum, for the purpose of constructing Irrigation
Systems at Normandy Shores and Bayshore Golf Courses?
2195 votes were cast, of which 1005 votes were "For Bonds" and
1190 votes were "Against Bonds".
UPON QUESTION NO. 21 :
Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida issue negotiable
coupon bonds in the amount of $95,000.00 with interest
at a rate to be hereafter determined, not exceeding 4%
per annum, for the purpose of landscaping the Interchange
and the easterly end of Julia Tuttle Causeway?
2310 votes were cast, of which 1275 votes were "For Bonds and
1035 votes were "Against Bonds".
and,

WHEREAS, a majority of the total number of freeholders who were
qualified electors residing in said City, and legally qualified to
participate in said Special Election, did vote therein; however a
majority thereof did not participate on any of the questions;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the issuance of bonds in the
sum of $12,569,000.00, as set forth and provided for in Questions Numbers
1 through 21, as described in this resolution, has not been approved
by the qualified freeholders.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 2nd day of June, A.D. 1965.
