RESOLUTION NO. 11944
PROVIDING FOR THE ELECTION OF AN EMPLOYEE MEMBER AS A
MEMBER OF THE PERSONNEL BOARD REPRESENTING GROUP TWO.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 4 of Chapter
18696, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1937, as amended in 1955, it is
provided that there shall be three employees of Regular status elected
to the Personnel Board of the City of Miami Beach as members thereof,
and
WHEREAS, a vacancy has occurred in the office of Member of the
Personnel Board representing Group 2 of employees, through the resig-
nation of Muriel Benson, which resignation becomes effective October 1,
1966;
WHEREAS, it is therefore necessary that an election be called
for the purpose of electing a member of the Personnel Board repre-
senting Group 2 of employees to fill the unexpired term of Muriel
Benson, whose term expires at midnight, July 31, 1968;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida:
SECTION 1: That a primary election and an election are hereby called
for the purpose of electing a member of the Personnel
Board for Group 2, said primary to be held between the hours of
9 :00 A.M. and 5: 00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 18, 1966, and said election
to be held between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 5 :00 P.M. on Tuesday,
October 25, 1966, in the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 1130
Washington Avenue.
SECTION 2: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to
notify the members of Group 2 of said Primary and Election
by posting a notice stating the time, place and purpose of said
Primary and Election in a conspicuous place in each department of the
City wherein members of Group 2 are employed.
SECTION 3: That for the purpose of holding and conducting said
Primary and Election, the City Clerk is hereby authorized
to appoint three (3) employees to serve as Clerk and Inspectors.
SECTION 4: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby appointed as
Supervisor of said Primary and Election, and is hereby
further instructed to provide ballots and all necessary paraphernalia
to the Clerk and Inspectors, to enable them to properly hold and
conduct said Primary and Election.
SECTION 5 : That the Two (2) employees receiving the highest number
of votes cast at the Primary on October 18, 1966 in
Group 2 shall be the only candidates for Board Member to be voted
on at the Election to be held on October 25, 1966; provided, however,
that should any employee receive a majority of the votes cast at• the
Primary, he shall be declared elected a member of the Personnel Board
and the Election in said Group 2, as herein planned, will not be held.

SECTION 6: That immediately after the polls are closed in the
Primary and in the Election herein called, the Clek
and Inspectors shall proceed to open the ballot box and count the
ballots cast, tabulating the result, and upon completion of said
count they shall promptly certify the result of said Primary or
Election, as the case may be, to the City Clerk, in duplicate, on
forms to be supplied them by the said City Clerk.
SECTION 7 : That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to
present to the City Council, at their first meeting
following the holding of said Election, the Certificate of said
Clerk and Inspectors, as to the result of said Election, whereupon
this Body shall declare the Member elected as indicated in said
Certificate.
