public schools. The committee is vested with the power and authority to make recommendations to the city commission and to investigate, develop,
and carry out plans to promote and ensure the provision of quality education in Miami Beach public schools.

Safe Schools South Florida – Brad Koogler presented and following motion made
Motion made by Beverly Heller
Motion seconded by Judi Berson-Levinson
The Committee for Quality Education requests the Miami Beach Mayor and Commission support
the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Resolution and Miami Beach Youth Commission
motion from January 17, 2017 to recognize LGBTQ individuals as a protected class in all city-run,
city-sponsored, and city-partnered youth programming.
City Run School Bus within 2 miles of MDCPS - updated provided that CMB would fund pilot
program at North Beach Elementary and Biscayne Elementary for one semester beginning in
August 2017
Feeder Pattern Questions – deferred to next meeting
Geo Bond Update-By School- Next Step-MDCPS to bring handout re status

MBSH Athletic Fees to use CMB Parks-Beach Field – PPT presentation provided by MBSH coach
Aaron Harris and Edgar Botto. Al Palacio from MDCPS facilities stated MDCPS will look at MBSH
field and report back at next QEC meeting. Second request made to MDCPS staff for line item
detail on all high school field maintenance by school for this year and past years. Eva to provide at
next meeting.

transaction for education. March 1rst Commission Meeting. Item to be discussed at 1:30 pm.
