Miami Beach Will Extend Trolley Service on New Year’s Eve
– Ensuring a Safe and Enjoyable Holiday for All –
Miami Beach, FL – Long after the clock strikes midnight, Miami Beach trolleys will keep
on running. Expecting to service a large amount of residents and visitors traveling
throughout the urban-island on New Year’s Eve, trolleys will operate until 2 a.m. on the
festive night.
“This year, we wanted to make sure the City of Miami Beach put its best foot forward in
keeping our streets safe for the holiday,” expressed City Manager Jimmy L. Morales.
“The extended trolley schedule will do just that to ensure everyone has a pleasant and
safe night as they welcome the New Year.”
To enhance the pedestrian experience, Ocean Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic
from Fifth to 14 streets on Saturday, December 30 starting at 7 a.m. and will reopen at 9
a.m. on Monday, January 1. A spirited fireworks show will take place at midnight on New
Year’s Eve for all to enjoy on Ocean Drive, viewable between 5 and 15 streets. New this
year, Española Way will host a public street party starting at 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. featuring
a live DJ and big screen to watch the famous ball drop. The free events will invite Miami
Beach families, visitors and businesses to come together and celebrate another
successful year for this vibrant city.
