Leave Your Mark on Miami Beach
— City Establishing an Adopt-A-Bench Program —
Miami Beach, FL – Are you looking for a creative way to celebrate a special occasion or
acknowledge a loved one? The City of Miami Beach is establishing an Adopt-A-Bench Program
providing individuals or entities the ability to commemorate or honor family, friends or special
events by adopting a bench in a city park.
Soon, donors may elect to adopt an existing park bench or propose the addition of a new bench.
“We modeled this initiative after the very successful bench program in New York City’s Central
Park. Not only will our bench program be a wonderful way to memorialize a loved one, but
money generated by this program will pay for park enhancements,” said Miami Beach
Commissioner Kristin Rosen Gonzalez. “I look forward to seeing all the names of our beloved
residents on park benches."
Park, bench and plaque options (design, color, material, inscription, etc.) will be provided by
Miami Beach Parks and Recreation for the donor’s choosing. The plaque will remain on the
bench for a minimum of 10 years.
For more information on the Adopt-A-Bench Program, donors can contact Miami Beach Parks
and Recreation at 305.673.7730, extension 6579.
