Resolution 78-15549 RESOLUTION NO. 78-15549 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO DESIGNATE AN APPROPRIATE OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY AS THE AFFIRMA- TIVE ACTION OFFICER OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH. WHEREAS, it has been and is the policy of the City of Miami Beach to provide equal employment opportunity for all with- , out regard to race, sex, color, national origin, religion, age, physical handicap, ancestry, marital status and/or place of birth, and it has been and is further its policy to protect and safeguard individuals recruited, selected and hired within the City employ- ment system by promoting and maintaining equal employment oppor- tunity by means of Affirmative Action, and WHEREAS, it is the purpose and intent of the City Com- mission of the City of Miami Beach that the City of Miami Beach, by and through its City Manager, shall (1) Actively continue its Affirmative Action Plan; (2) Continue developing, implementing and monitoring affirmative action guidelines for City contracting and subcontracting; and (3) Continue implementing and monitoring Equal Employment Opportunity requirements; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized and directed to designate a suitable employee or officer, employed by the City of Miami Beach, as the City ' s Affirmative Action Officer, who shall aid and assist the City - Manager by: (a) Implementing and monitoring affirmative action guidelines as they relate internally to the City of Miami Beach; (b) Implementing and monitoring affirmative action guidelines, concerning the City's contracting and subcontracting policies; (c) Assuring that information and technical assistance ' is provided to all City administrators, City employees and applicants for employment, concerning affirmative action programs and equal employment opportunities; (d) Publishing and disseminating public information and materials relating to equal employment opportuni- ties and affirmative action; and (e) Reporting to the City Manager the status of the City of Miami Beach affirmative action program; the enforcement of the provisions, of this Resolution and recom- mendations concerning methods by which to improve the City ' s affirmative action program; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the duties and responsibilities of such Affirmative Action Officer shall be as hereinabove set forth and as set forth in the City ' s Affirmative Action Plan, and such other duties and responsibilities as may be designated by the City Manager without additional compensation. • PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of February , 1978 . 4 .
