I hope to be appointed as your interim Commissioner, Group 4, and commit I will not run in November, 2019. I have a depth of knowledge in zoning and planning, not only as Commissioner, but with my past service on the Planning Board for 11 years, 7 as Chairman. I am also supportive of Historic Preservation, and served previously on the HPB. I have a deep interest in our parks, green space, resiliency, trees and the environment as well as in enhancing the education of our children. I attended North Beach, Nautilus and Beach High, as did my three children. I served as PTA President and continue my association with the Alumni Association. The promotion of arts and culture in Miami Beach is very important to me, and I am supportive and active at the New World Symphony, Miami New Drama, Wolfsonian FIU and the Bass Museum. During my previous Commission service I worked on economic development, and was involved in the Washington Drive Master Plan, North Beach Master Plan, Ocean Terrace, and the newly renovated Convention Center. I campaigned for Page 274 of 434 the new Convention Center Hotel as Chair of the "Vote Yes for Miami Beach" Committee. Recently I served on the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Committee for the GO Bonds and spoke at various venues supporting these essential bonds. As a 32 year banking executive, I want to ensure that these projects move forward with financial viability, efficiency and accountability to our residents. I have worked closely with residents, and have helped many with their neighborhood concerns. I believe I am most qualified to fill this seat due to my extensive experience, knowledge and integrity. I am third generation in Miami Beach, love this city, and believe my highest and best calling is public service. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Joy V. W.
