Gonzalez City Manager Date: June 18, 2003 STATUS ON INSTALLATION OF BUS SHELTERS AND OTHER STREET FURNITURE This LTC is to bring you up-to-date on the contract the City has with Clear Channel Adshel for the installation, operation, and maintenance of bus shelters and other street furniture. On October 17, 2001 the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2001-24650 authorizing an agreement with Clear Channel Adshel for the placement of bus shelter structures and other street furniture on the public right-of-way. This contract gives the contractor exclusive rights to install, operate, and maintain, bus shelters and other street furniture throughout the city. Clear Channel Adshel received the approval of the Design Review Board and the Historic Preservation Board on August 20, 2002, and is currently completing the architectural design and the fabrication of the prototypes prior to installation throughout the City. Currently the status of the bus shelter and other street furniture is as follows: Bus Shelters - The Origami Shelter (See Exhibit A for pictures and diagrams) Adshel is required to remove and replace approximately 100 existing bus shelters. Additionally, the City and Adshel will develop a plan to add new shelters at other bus stop locations where currently there is no bus shelter installed. Several locations have already been requested by residents and condominium associations. (See Exhibit E for location map). The architectural design has been completed; however, the drawings are being modified to add seat dividers to prevent people from sleeping on the seat. The mechanical/manufacturing design is underway. The installation process should begin in September. Ellipse Multi-Purpose Kiosk (See exhibit B for picture and diagram) Adshel is required to install up to 20 Ellipse Multi-Purpose Kiosks. The architectural design has been completed and the mechanical/manufacturing design is underway. The installation process should begin in mid September. Locations for the Ellipse Multi-Purpose Kiosk will be selected jointly by the City and the contractor. Ellipse Directory I Origami Adbox (See exhibit C for picture and diagram) Adshel is required to install up to 25 Ellipse Directory/Origami Adbox. The architectural design has been completed and the mechanical/manufacturing design is underway. The installation process should begin in mid September. Locations for the Ellipse Directory / Origami Adbox will be selected jointly by the City and the contractor. Origami Bench (See exhibit D for picture) Adshel will install approximately 180 Origami benches. The architectural design has been completed and the mechanical/manufacturing design is underway. The installation process should begin in mid September. The Origami Benches will be placed at all bus stop locations that do not have a Bus Shelter installed, where setback requirements will allow. The contractor has prepared and made available a digital presentation of the proposed Origami bus shelter for the City Com,~ission, Administration and staff to view.
