MIAMI BEACH CHAMBER RESOLUTION ON ACCESS TO AND
FROM 1-95 EXPRESS LANES TO 1-195
Whereas, the Florida Department of Transportation is planning
on under taking a major construction project that will impact
the entry to 1-395 for at least four years, and will thereby have a
significant impact on one of the main gateways into Miami
Beach, and;
Whereas, the construction affecting the MacArthur Causeway
will result in an increase traffic on other gateway roadways, in
particular 1-195, The Julia Tuttle Causeway, and;
Whereas, the lack of access onto and from the express lanes of
1-95 to the Julia Tuttle Causeway currently creates unnecessary
delays and increased traffic on other roadways and;
Whereas, direct access to express lanes of 1-95 from 1-195 and
exit from 1-95 to 1-195 will alleviate traffic congestion and
increase use of those express lanes,
Now therefore, the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce Board
of Governors urgently requests that the City of Miami Beach
press the Florida Department of Transportation and the
Governor to immediately revisit the lack of access to and from
the express lanes at the 1-195 interchange.
