RESOLUTION NO. 80-16193
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ENTER INTO AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH METRO-
POLITAN DADE COUNTY AUTHORIZING DADE COUNTY TO
FILE IN BEHALF OF THE CITY A COMPREHENSIVE
APPLICATION IN THE FORM PRESCRIBED BY THE
FLORIDA BUREAU OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE
FOR A CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPROVEMENT GRANT.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, has
thoroughly considered available information from the Florida Council on
Criminal Justice and the Dade-Miami Criminal Justice Council .
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CTIY OF MIAMI
BEACH, IN OPEN MEETING ASSEMBLED IN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
THIS 20TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1980, AS FOLLOWS:
1 . That the City of Miami Beach declares its intent to join
with Metropolitan Dade County and to enter into an interlocal agreement
with the County as part of its entitlement area under the requirements of
the 1979 Justice System Improvement Act.
2. That Metropolitan Dade County be authorized to file in
behalf of the City of Miami Beach a comprehensive application in the
form prescribed by the Florida Bureau of Criminal Justice Assistance for
a criminal justice improvement grant; and,
3. The said Metropolitan Dade County is further authorized to
furnish such information and take such action as may be necessary to enable
the entitlement to qualify for said grant.

SUBJECT: LEAA GRANT APPLICATION
The Administration in its active pursuit of Federal funding
for programs, projects, and future directions has contacted
the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration in an effort
to receive additional Federal monies. The LEAA has inaugurated
a new procedure whereby the only method by which the City of
Miami Beach may receive funds is through the Dade-Miami Criminal
Justice Council. The City must enter into an interlocal agree-
ment with Dade County to be eligible for grant monies.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION
That the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution.
