SUBJECT: Lease Agreement with Florida Department of Transportation
for Excess Right-of-Way on Terminal Island
The City purchased the Belcher Oil Property on Terminal Island for
relocation of the Mechanical Maintenance and Sanitation Divisions.
The Belcher Oil Company had a lease with the Department of Trans-
portation for parking, on the excess right-of-way adjacent to the
property. These rights were transferred to the City. The Admin-
istration has been negotiating with the Department of Transportation
to expand this area for employee parking. Attached is a lease agree-
ment, that has been prepared by the Department of Transportation, which
changes the previously leased area as shown on the attached sketch.
The City Attorney has reviewed the agreement and advises that the
City could enter into the agreement for the use of excess right-of-
way for City employee vehicles.
The Administration recommends that the attached resolution be approved
authorizing the execution of the lease.
