A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO APPLY TO
HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES ON BEHALF OF
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR A DEVELOPMENTAL
TRAINING PROGRAM FOR MENTALLY RETARDED ADULTS .
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach desires to apply to
Health and Rehabilitative Services for grant funds for a Developmental
Training Program for Mentally Retarded Adults, on behalf of the City
of Miami Beach Recreation Department, and
WHEREAS , said Program is planned for thirty five (35)
adult mental retardates for fifty-two (52) weeks a year, Monday
through Friday, from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Log Cabin, a
Cultural Affairs Division facility of the City of Miami Beach, and
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach has estimated that funds
will amount to approximately $152 ,000 and will provide for all costs
of the Program, including personnel, materials and supplies,
transportation, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach will not be obligated to
continue the Program if grant funds are not approved, and
WHEREAS , the source of the funds will be 75% Federal, 121%
State, and 121% match from the City of Miami Beach in the form of
employee fringe benefits and in-kind services and support.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager be and he is
hereby authorized, directed and empowered, as the designated official
of the City of Miami Beach, to make application to Health and
Rehabilitative Services for grant funds for the Developmental Training
Program for Mentally Retarded Adults, as herein above set forth, for
and on behalf of the City of Miami Beach in connection with all matters
pertaining to this application and any grant contract that may be
executed pursuant hereto.
