A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF LEASE
AGREEMENT WITH TENNIS INDUSTRY 'S NATIONAL BUYING,
INC. FOR THE USE OF THE NORTH HALL AND NORTH HALL
MEETING ROOMS OF THE MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER
ON JANUARY 8-15, 19 81.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, has been advised that
TENNIS INDUSTRY' S NATIONAL BUYING SHOW, INC.
desires to lease certain premises and facilities of the City of
Miami Beach, to-wit:
NORTH HALL AND NORTH HALL MEETING ROOMS OF THE MIAMI
BEACH CONVENTION CENTER
for the event known a s:
TENNIS INDUSTRY' S NATIONAL BUYING SHOW, U.S. TENNIS
ASSOCIATION AND EXECUTIVE/MANAGEMENT SEMINARS
on
JANUARY 8-15, 19 81
and
WHEREAS, an appropriate lease agreement has been prepared
by the Miaiili Beach Coil V eli Lioi1 Cel.Lei Director and approved as to
form by the City Attorney, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has been advised of and is
familiar with the terms and provisions of the said lease agreement
and deems it to be in the best interest of the City to authorize
the execution of the said lease agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the City
Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute
the above-described lease agreement on behalf of the City, and
that the Miami Beach Convention Center Director be and he is
hereby authorized and directed to carry into effect the terms and
provisions undertaken therein by the City.

SUBJECT: REQUEST FROM TENNIS INDUSTRY'S NATIONAL BUYING SHOW TO PAY
$1 ,000 FOR AIR CONDITIONING DURING MOVE IN-SEMINAR DATES
OF 1981 EVENT
Mr. Donald M. Klein, representing Tennis Industry's
National Buying Show, appeared before the members
of the Convention Center Advisory Board at their
April 24, 1980 meeting. The trade show is
scheduled January 8 through 15, 1981 in Convention
Hall North. Mr. Klein requested the rate of $750
for eight hours use per day of air conditioning in
the hall during the move in-seminar dates of the
event, January 9 and 10.
For the past several years , the event has received
Commission-approved rates for air conditioning
during this portion of the event. The rate of
$1 ,000 for air conditioning was discussed among
the members and Mr. Klein and this charge was
acceptable to Mr. Klein.
The members of the Convention Center Advisory Board
voted unanimously to recommend to the City Commission
that Tennis Industry's National Buying Show pay $1 ,000
for air conditioning use of eight hours per day during
the move in-seminar dates of January 9 and 10 for the
January 8 through 15, 1981 trade show only to be held
in Convention Hall North.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: The Convention Center
Director concurs with the Board 's recommendation.

SUBJECT: REQUEST FROM TENNIS INDUSTRY'S NATIONAL BUYING SHOW FOR
PROTECTION CLAUSE IN 1981 LEASE AGREEMENT
Mr. Donald M. Klein of Tennis Industry's National Buying
Show, appeared before the members of the Convention Center
Advisory Board at their April 24, 1980 meeting to request
a protection clause for the 1981 event. TINBS is
scheduled in Convention Hall North January 8 through 15,
1931 . Mr. Klein requested a protection clause against
any other tennis trade show (a closed to the public event)
in the facilities for a period of One Hundred and Eighty
Days - 90 days before and 90 days after the event.
The Commission has granted the event a protection clause
in the lease agreement for past tennis shows. Mr. Klein
informed the members protection is necessary because of
the substantial investment in bringing the event to this
area. Protection clauses are granted in San Diego,
Anaheim and Las Vegas facilities where the promoter of
the event sponsors similar shows.
Motion was made, seconded and voted unanimously by the
members of the Convention Center Advisory Board to grant
a protection clause in the Tennis Industry's National
Buying Show lease agreement against any other tennis
trade show (a closed to the public event) in the
facilities for a period of One Hundred and Fifty Days -
90 days before and 60 days after the January 8
through 15, 1981 event only which is scheduled in
Convention Hall North.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: The Convention Center
Director concurs with the Board 's recommendation.
