A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE EXECU—
TION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH DUNCAN INDUSTRIES, A
DIVISION OF THE QONAAR CORPORATION FOR THE PUR—
CHASE OF PARKING METERS AND SPARE PARTS.
WHEREAS, for the reasons more particularly set forth in
Commission Memorandum No. 8574 , the City Commission of the City of
Miami Beach deems it in the best interest of the citizens of Miami
Beach to enter into an agreement with Duncan Industries, a division
of the Qonaar Corporation, the terms of which are familiar to the
City Commission and which Contract is included in the Agenda pack—
age for the meeting at which this Resolution was adopted; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends the City enter into
said agreement and the City Attorney has approved same as to form
and legal sufficiency;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COM—
MISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and
City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed to enter
into said agreement for and on behalf of the City of Miami Beach.

SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF CONTRACT FOR PURCHASE OF PARKING METERS
FOR THE METERED PARKING DIVISION, FINANCE DEPARTMENT
BACKG ROUND:
On June 18, 1980, Commission approved the standardization of Parking
Meters within the City of Miami Beach to the Duncan Industries of
Illinois meters. At that time, Commission also authorized the
Administration to negotiate a Price Agreement for the acquisition of
approximately 1,000 parking meters. The resultant contract and
resolution are attached and submitted for approval.
CONTRACT SUMMARY:
Purchase Amount. . .Approximately 1, 000 meters.
Pricing. . .Fair price commitment is included which
allows for price adjustment downward from contract
pricing should the same meter be sold at a lower
price during the firm price period.
Firm Price Period. . .Prices remain firm until March 31, 1981.
Free Mechanisms Duncan agrees to provide one mechanism
free for every fifty meters purchased.
Parts Allowance A $1, 163.49 parts allowance will be
issued with every order for 500 meters.
Revenue Control Vendor agrees to provide consultant
for two days at no cost to aid in development of a
revenue control program.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Approval of the attached contract will allow implementation of a
program of modernization and change-over of obsolete meters which is
expected to cover a four-year period.
PURCHASE AMOUNT AND FUNDING:
Estimated Expenditure: $100,000.00, funds are available in
Metered Parking Division Account No. 5-479-462-545.677
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission approve the Price Agreement
Contract between the City and Duncan Industries as
detailed above.
