RECOMMENDATION
Pursuant to the request of Commissioner Michael Gongora, the above - referenced Resolution is
submitted for consideration by the Mayor and City Commission at the April 10, 2019 City
Commission meeting. The Resolution urges the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
to implement a crosswalk in the vicinity of Collins Avenue and 87th Street. Commissioner
Michael Gongora previously recommended the proposed crosswalk when he was a
Commissioner in 2013; however, FDOT denied the request. Due to the continued need for a
crosswalk by the elderly and new uses in the area, including the Mater Academy, an even
greater need for a crosswalk exists. Thus, the request for a crosswalk is proposed again
pursuant to the attached Resolution.
