A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE CERTIFICATE OF THE METRO-
POLITAN DADE COUNTY CANVASSING COMMITTEE AS TO THE
RESULTS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH SPECIAL ELECTION
HELD ON MARCH 13, 1984; DECLARING RESULTS TO BE
FOR ISSUANCE OF BONDS.
WHEREAS, on March 13, 1984, Metropolitan Dade County conducted the Presi-
dential Preference primary, at which time the City of Miami Beach authorized
the holding a special election relating to the issuance of bonds for water,
sewer, street, lighting and property acquisition, in the redevelopment area
lying south of Sixth Street, and
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 84-17635 adopted by the Miami Beach City Commission
on February 1, 1984, the Metropolitan Dade County Canvassing Board was authorized
to act as the Canvassing Board for the special election of the City of Miami Beach
to be held on March 13, 1984, and
WHEREAS, the certification of the results of the Gity of Miami Beach
Special election as submitted by David C. Leahy, Supervisor of Elections, Metropolitan
Dade County, Florida, dated March 20, 1984, has been received,and is made a part
of this resolution, and
WHEREAS, said Certification reflects that the bond issue submitted was duly
approved by the electorate of the City of MIami Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, that said Certification be and the same is hereby adopted, which
reflects that there were 17,965 votes cast and that upon the question:
QUESTION 1:
Shall the City of Miami Beach issue general obligation bonds in an amount
not to exceed nine million eight hundred thousand dollars ($9,800,000) ,
bearing interest at rates determined at the time of sale, not exceeding
the maximum legal interest rate, for construction, reconstruction, replace-
ment and improvement of water and sewer facilities, streets, lighting,
landscaping and property acquisition, in furtherance of the Redevelopment
Plan for the area south of Sixth Street in said City?
8,472 were cast FOR BONDS.
5,893 were cast AGAINST BONDS.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND DETERMINED THAT QUESTION 1 WAS APPROVED.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 4th day of April, 1984.
