A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, PLACING CERTAIN NEGOTIATED
AND AGREED UPON LANGUAGE INTO THE CONTRACT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AND THE
INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIREFIGHTERS, LOCAL
1510, AFL-CIO-CLC, AND RATIFYING THE NEGOTIATED
WAGE SETTLEMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach and the International Association of
Firefighters, Local 1510, AFL-CIO-CLC reopened wage negotiations and certain other
negotiations per Contract and have agreed on certain issues, the following language,
which has been agreed to by both parties, shall be considered as a part of the
International Association of Firefighters, Local 1510, AFL-CIO-CLC Contract and
shall be placed therein:
WAGE SETTLEMENT
Across-the-board wage increases shall be inplemented on the payroll period
commencing nearest the following dates:
April 1, 1984 3%
October 1, 1984 5%
January 1, 1985 3%
October 1, 1985 5%
* Amendment 111 condition, i.e. if Amendment 111 passes, this 5% may be canceled
by the City and negotiations opened on the subject of wages. If the voters reject
Amendment 111, the Union may reopen the subject of the termination date of the
Contract.
Further, the following contract language has also been agreed upon:
The current agreement will have no further wage or benefit or non-economic
reopeners and will expire on March 31, 1986 except for reopeners set forth in the
settlement agreement.
Effective the first pay period commencing after April 1, 1984 all presently
certificated paramedics who are not permanently assigned to Fire Rescue shall
receive an additional wage bonus of $22.99 per pay period for so long as they
keep their certificate current and are not permanently assigned to Fire Rescue.
Persons who are currently employed by the City in the Fire Department and who
subsequently obtain paramedic certification will receive the $22.99 per pay
period for so long as they keep the certificate current and are not assigned
permanently to Fire Rescue; provided that when the total number of persons
receiving this bonus reaches 20, the Fire Chief shall have the discretion to
determine in each instance thereafter whether the certificate holder(s) in excess
of 20 will receive the bonus or not.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
