A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH ENDORSING THE SUBMISSION
OF A SECTION 312 LOAN APPLICATION TO THE
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
DEVELOPMENT FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE
BLACKSTONE HOTEL AND AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR
TO EXECUTE A RELOCATION AGREEMENT AS
REQUIRED BY HUD.
WHEREAS, Two Brothers Investments, a Florida general partnership, d/b/a
the New Blackstone Hotel, is desirous of applying for a Section 312 Rehabilitation Loan
from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach must agree to endorse and submit all
Section 312 applications for rehabilitation to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project includes the permanent displacement of
approximately 110 elderly tenants and federal regulations require that relocation benefits
be paid in accordance, therefore necessitating the execution of a relocation agreement
between the City and the owner prior to submittal of the application to HUD.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Commission hereby endorses
the submission of a Section 312 loan application to the Department of Housing and Urban
Development for the rehabilitation of the Blackstone Hotel; and further authorizes the
Mayor to execute and submit, with the application, a relocation agreement between the
City of Miami Beach and Two Brothers Investments, Ltd., d/b/a the New Blackstone.
