SUBJECT: ESTABLISHMENTOFENTRANCEFEESCHEDLJLEFOR
COMMUNITY CENTER NIGHT-TIME PROGRAMS
The current fee structure for entrance to Corn munity Center night-time programs was
established by Corn mission Directive on September 28, 1976. It provides for an annual pass at
a charge of $2.50 each or, alternatively, a $0.25 entrance fee per event for those individuals
not holding an annual pass.
A review of current operating costs shows that an annual supplement of approximately
$50,679 from the general fund is needed just to support the cost of entertainers for these
programs. In addition, a survey of neighboring cities found that our admission fee is
significantly lower than those charged by the other municipalities for similar type programs.
We are also the only municipality that makes use of an annual pass.
For the reasons stated above, the Administration reco m mends that the Corn munity Center
annual pass be eliminated and the entrance fee be increased from $0.25 to $0.50 per event.
This increase in fees is projected to generate $27,553 in revenues during F Y 1984-85 and has
been incorporated as part of the Proposed Budget.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends that the entrance fee schedule as outlined above be
approved.
