A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE
FLORIDA MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS
TO SPONSOR AND ADOPT LEGISLATION WHICH WOULD
RESULT IN THE DONATION OF A 3 . 4 ACRE TRACT OF
GOVERNMENT SURPLUS LAND IN THE SOUTH POINTE
REDEVELOPMENT AREA.
WHEREAS , the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach
on May 5 , 1982 approved and adopted the South Pointe Redevelopment
Plan as an amendment to the redevelopment plan element of the Com-
prehensive Plan of the City for the purpose of economic and
physical development of the area ; and
WHEREAS , in order to effectively implement the proposals
developed for the revitalization of the City ' s South Pointe Area ,
it is imperative that any existing unimproved real property
crucial to such be developed in accordance with said plans ; and
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach has been informed that
the U. S . General Services Administration will be placing a 3 . 4
acre tract of government surplus land in the South Pointe Area
for immediate public sale ; and
WHEREAS , the acquisition of the subject parcel is vital
to the effective implementation and overall success of the re-
development efforts in the South Pointe Area ;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
That the Florida members of the United States Congress
sponsor and support legislation in Congress for the granting of the
3 . 4 acre tract in the South Pointe Redevelopment Area to the City
of Miami Beach.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 19th day of September, 1984.
