SUBJECT: REQUEST OF MIAMI BEACH PRO-AM INVITATIONAL GOLF COMMITTEE
FOR 1985 ANNUAL TOURNAMENT AT BAYSHORE GOLF COURSE
Attached is a letter from the General Chairman of the 1985 Miami Beach Pro-Am Invitational
Golf Committee requesting the use of Bayshore Golf Course on Monday, March 4, 1985 and for
waiver of the greens fees for the players. This tournament was last held in Miami Beach in
March, 1979 and the Committee has since gone elsewhere for their annual event. We are
fortunate to have the Committee select Miami Beach this year.
This prestigious event draws golfers from various areas, plus the major news media who are
still in this area following the Doral and Eagletrace tournaments. ESPN, the cable sports
network, has promised national cable coverage of the Pro-Am and also a meeting with all the
important national sports media to display our Miami Beach golf facilities. The tournament
promises to bring our City very favorable publicity and good will.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends approval of this request for the use of Bayshore Golf Course
and the waiver of greens fees for the players on March 4, 1985.

Dear Mr. Parkins:
As chairman of our City' s Golf Advisory Committee and
General Chairman of the 1985 Miami Beach Pro-Am Invitational
Golf Committee, it is my pleasure to inform you that we were
indeed fortunate to secure this very prestigious, P.G.A.
sanctioned golf tournament for Bayshore Golf Course.
The event will take place, Monday, March 4th, 1985, immediately
following the Honda Classic at Eagletrace. We have once again
been assured by the P.G.A. of an outstanding field of tour
pros, which in the estimation of our committee will do much
to enhance both our city' s image and outstanding golf courses.
On behalf of our committee I formally request the use of
Bayshore Golf Course and waiver of greens fees for the day of
March 4th, 1985.
Sincerely,
