RESOLUTION NO. 85-18050
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA EXPRESSING DEEP CONCERN OVER
THE TAX PROPOSALS BEFORE THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF
TREASURY TO CURTAIL TAX DEDUCTIONS FOR BUSINESS
TRAVEL AND MEALS BASED ON THE SIGNIFICANT EFFECT SUCH
A PROPOSAL COULD HAVE ON THE ECONOMY OF MIAMI BEACH
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has historically been an economy based on
the Tourism Industry; and
WHEREAS, an essential part of the Tourism Industry is business travel and meals
by corporations and major associations holding conventions; and
WHEREAS, the curtailment of tax deductions for business travel and meals could
significantly affect the Tourism Industry and, in that context, the City of Miami Beach,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City of Miami Beach expresses deep
concern over the proposal to curtail tax deductions for business travel and meals and request
the re-evaluation by the U.S. Department of Treasury concerning such proposals.
