Five Public Safety (Quick Wins) Projects to launch this summer:
License Plate Readers (LPRs)
A public safety intelligence technology and
license plate recognition software that automatically queries license plates to check for registered wanted subjects; providing law enforcement with investigative leads for catching
criminals and stopping crimes.
Public Safety Radio System
A technology upgrade to the public safety communications network that is used to connect more than 1,000 first responders
across the city, giving law enforcers unified interoperability with other South FL agencies as well as increased coverage and functionality.
Security for Public Spaces
Protective and
portable bollards to safeguard pedestrians and special event venues in the areas of: Convention Center, Lincoln Road, Ocean Drive, Soundscape Park and South Pointe Park. For crowd-control
and protective boundary usages.
Security Cameras in Entertainment District
Increased visual coverage in Lummus Park and in Ocean Drive by installing 80 new security cameras throughout
the business district areas.
Security Cameras on Beachwalk
Increased visual security coverage along the Beachwalk between 14 Place and 23 Street by installing 15 new overhead security
cameras.
