From:
Subject:
Concurrent with ongoing negotiations, the New World Symphony (NWS) has been
conducting an extensive outreach initiative, scheduling meetings with various Citywide
committees to advise on the Symphony's expansion plans and to obtain community input.
Since January 2003, the NWS has presented its plans before the Cultural Arts Council, the
Lincoln Road Marketing Association, the Convention Center Advisory Board, the Tuesday
Morning Breakfast Club, and on two occasions before the Parking and Transportation
Committee. Additionally, the NWS has made presentations before the City's Land Use and
Development Committee and on three occasions before the Finance and Citywide Projects
Committee.
On July 30, 2003, a Public Hearing is scheduled for the City Commission to consider on
first reading, the proposed Development Agreement between the City of Miami Beach and
the New World Symphony. In preparation for this meeting, the New World Symphony has
scheduled a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at 7:00 P.M., at the Lincoln
Theater, located at 541 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, Florida. The purpose of the meeting
will be to provide information concerning the Soundspace Project and to receive input from
affected property owners, business owners, residents and other interested parties. The
meeting has not only been advertised in the Miami Herald, notices have also been mailed
out and hand delivered to more than 670 businesses and residents in the immediate area
of Lincoln Road.
The subject meeting on July 29, 2003 has been publicly noticed in the City's meeting notice
