A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A JOINT PARTICIPATION
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION AND THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH IN ORDER TO
UNDERTAKE A PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT TO
DEVELOP A PROJECT DEFINITION AND ALIGNMENT AND CAPITAL COST
ESTIMATE FOR A MINIMAL LIGHT RAIL PROJECT OR OTHER FEASIBLE
TECHNOLOGY FOR A MIAMI BEACH TRANSIT FEASIBILITY STUDY.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
THAT
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is desirous of undertaking a feasibility study
for a Light Rail Transit System within the City limits of the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has been successful in receiving $250,000 in
funds from the State of Florida Legislature during their regular 1987 session; and
WHEREAS, staff of the City of Miami Beach and the Florida Department of
Transportation have prepared a Joint Participation Agreement which outlines the scope of
services, duties, and responsibilities of the agencies and authorizes the State of Florida
Department of Transportation to fund the study in the amount of $250,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Commission accepts the Joint
Participation Agreement and authorizes the Mayor of the City of Miami Beach to execute
this agreement on behalf of the City of Miami Beach.
