A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE
STATE OF FLORIDA TO CREATLA PARK AROUND THE
NORTHWEST WELL FIELD IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE
QUALITY AND QUANTITY OF DRINKING WATER OF
DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, Good, clean drinking water is the concern of all
citizens of South Florida, and especially Dade County; and
WHEREAS, Our future supply of good, clean drinking water
depends on the protection of our well fields from contamination;
and
WHEREAS, We are looking for the continued growth of Dade
County; and
WHEREAS, Eliminating pollutants is expensive and could raise
the cost of water to using industries which may find it too
expensive to operate in Dade County; and
WHEREAS, It is necessary to protect the Dade County drinking
water well fields from those who may contaminate our drinking
water; and
WHEREAS, For the benefit of future generations to have good,
clean, inexpensive drinking water.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the State of Florida is
encouraged to create a passive park around the Northwest
Wellfield cone-of-influence to Protect the Quality and Quantity
of Drinking Water of Dade County, Florida.
