A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE
METRO DADE COMMISSION TO AMEND ORDINANCE 83-
122

122 TO PERMIT THE UTILIZATION OF OFF—DUTY
POLICE OFFICERS TO PROVIDE GUARD SERVICES
WITHIN PALM—HIBISCUS ISLAND SECURITY GUARD
SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, Metro Dade County' s Special Taxing District is in
the process of negotiating a new contract for a security company
for islands within the City limits of the City of Miami Beach;
and
WHEREAS, the City would like to urge the Board of County
Commissioners of Dade County, Florida to amend Ordinance No. 83-
122 ;
3-122 ; and
WHEREAS, allowing off-duty police officers to provide
security 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week, 365 days a year,
within the Palm/Hibiscus Island Security Guard Special Taxing
District in lieu of unarmed security guards would be an asset to
all property owners.
