A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A SPECIAL REVENUE FUND IN THE
AMOUNT OF $166, 500 TO OPERATE THE SAFE
NEIGHBORHOOD PLANNING PROGRAM, AND TO APPROPRIATE
SUCH FUNDS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA:
WHEREAS, the City established Safe Neighborhood Districts No.
1 and No. 2 as authorized by Ordinances 88-2605, 88-2606 and 88-
2607 ; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach applied for and received
approval for funding through the Safe Neighborhoods Trust Fund from
the State of Florida Department of Community Affairs for a total of
$166, 500 in planning grants to be divided as follows: $102 , 375 for
District No. 1, $34, 125 for District No. 2 and $30, 000 for overall
technical assistance; and
WHEREAS, this funding is to be used to address issues of crime
prevention and control through environmental design and planning in
the districts; and
WHEREAS, the required match of "in-kind" services from the City
will be derived from actual services and the salaries of employees
of the Economic and Community Development, Police, Planning, Public
Services, Fire Department's Code Enforcement Division, Legal and
other City Departments to be involved in the planning program; and
WHEREAS, the contracts signed between the City of Miami Beach
and the Department of Community Affairs stipulate that the funds
will be managed by the City -State in accordance with Section
163 . 5151 of the Florida Statutes; and
WHEREAS, a Special Revenue Account is required to be
established to facilitate the program; and
WHEREAS, it is essential that the funds received by the City be
appropriated for the programs approved by the State.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager is hereby
authorized to establish a Special Revenue Fund, to be used to
operate the Safe Neighborhood Planning program, and to appropriate
the amount of $166, 500.

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION
The Administration recommends that the accompanying Resolution be
adopted.
