A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA RESCINDING COMMISSION
MEMORANDUM NO. 422-88 WHEREBY THE CITY
COMMISSION APPROVED AN INTERIM BUDGET OF $668,000
IN ANTICIPATION OF CONTINUING STUDIES OF THE MIAMI
BEACH LIGHT RAIL TROLLEY SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, Commission Memorandum No. 422-88 dated July 27, 1988
approved an interim budget of $668,000 which was recommended in anticipation
of continuing studies of the Miami Beach Light Rail Trolley System; and
WHEREAS, community support for such a project is essential; and
WHEREAS, it is apparent that the issuance of any revenue bonds for
the purpose of continuing the Light Rail Trolley Study would be inappropriate
without community support; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation for a project that is unlikely to proceed
is unnecessary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that this Resolution
be adopted so as to rescind Commission Memorandum No. 422-88.

APPROPRIATION FOR LIGHT RAIL/TROLLEY
Commission Memorandum No. 422-88 approving an interim budget of $668,000
was approved on July 27, 1988 in anticipation of a sale of resort tax bonds for
the purpose of continuing the study for the Light Rail Trolley System on Miami
Beach.
It has become apparent that the issuance of resort tax bonds for the
continuation of this study is unlikely.
The attached Resolution rescinds Commission Memorandum No. 422-88
approving an interim budget of $668,000 for the purpose of ensuring that the
City's accounts are in order.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
That the Resolution rescinding Commission Memorandum No. 422-88 be
adopted.

SUBJECT: INTERIM BUDGET FOR THE MIAMI BEACH LIGHT RAIL PROJECT
The City Administration wishes to continue the current work on the Miami Beach
Light Rail Project in order to undertake technical tasks following the current
feasibility study and to maintain the current implementation schedule.
There are technical tasks that can be accomplished in the near term that will
contribute to maintaining the schedule while other administrative, technical and
financing approvals are sought. The Administration is requesting that the City
Commission approve a budget authorization of $668,000 as an interim budget that will
permit work to continue. Funds will initially come from the existing capital reserve
and will be replenished by the upcoming sale of Resort Tax Bonds.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The City Administration recommends that the City Commission approve an intei'im
budget of $668,000 for the continuation of the Miami Beach Light Rail Project.
