RECOMMENDATION
Mayor and City Commission accept the recommendation of the Land Use and Development
Committee at its June 12, 2019 meeting to explore a pop -up concession space at Tatum Park and
authorizing the Administration to approve and manage a temporary vendor at this site.
ANALYSIS
On June 12, 2019 the Land Use and Development Committee discussed a proposal to allow limited
accessory uses within historic buildings in the North Beach area.
As part of the discussion, the Land Use Committee recommended that the City Commission refer an
item to the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee to determine the feasibility of a pop -up or
temporary vendor at Crespi or Tatum Parks.
Pursuant to the direction of the item sponsor, Vice -Mayor Ricky Arriola, the referral is now
recommended to be an action item, authorizing the Administration to approve and manage temporary
vendors within Crespi or Tatum Park, as contemplated, under the new pop -up special event permits.
The Administration has determined Crespi Park is not a suitable location for a pop -up concession
space as this park does not have a pre - existing structure from which to operate a concession;
however, Tatum Park has been identified as having existing concession space which can be
explored further.
