SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN
AMENDMENT TO THE LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES POSTAL
SERVICE FOR UNDESIGNATED OFF-STREET PARKING SPACES; RELOCATING THESE
SPACES FROM THE CITY'S MUNICIPAL PARKING LOT 4-C TO MUNICIPAL
PARKING LOT 10-A AND INCREASING THE NUMBER OF UNDESIGNATED PARKING
SPACES FROM FIFTEEN TO FORTY.
The City has received a request from Michael DeHainaut, Real Estate Specialist
for the United States Postal Service, to increase the number of undesignated
parking spaces for their employees in the Carl Fisher Branch of the U.S. Post
Office. This facility, located in the 1600 block of West Avenue, currently uses
fifteen (15) spaces in the municipal parking lot adjacent to the facility. Due
to an increase in the number of personnel assigned to this branch office, they
re requesting an additional twenty-five (25) spaces.
the existing lease agreement, dated October 31, 1985, authorized the leasing of
fifteen undesignated parking spaces in the above referenced parking lot. When
the original agreement was executed, there were considerably fewer vehicles
using this lot than the volume now found on a regular basis. Because of this
request, the Parking Department has reviewed surrounding lots and identified the
10-A lot, located on 17th Street and Lenox Avenue, as the best site to relocate
the existing fifteen permits as well as the additional request of 25.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends that the City Commission of the City of Miami
Beach authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to amend the existing Short Form Lease
with the United States Post Office, increasing the total of spaces to 40 and
relocating all permits from the City's Municipal Parking Lot 4-C (1600 block of
West Avenue) to the City's 91 space Municipal Parking Lot 10-A (17th Street and
