A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, SETTING A DATE
FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION
BOARD AND PLANNING BOARD, ADOPTING THE
ATTACHED DESIGNATION REPORTS AND PROVIDING FOR
AN AMENDMENT TO COMPREHENSIVE ZONING ORDINANCE
NO. 89-2665; AMENDING SECTION 19, ENTITLED
"HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD AND HISTORIC
DISTRICT REGULATIONS", AMENDING SUBSECTION 19-
5,C, ENTITLED "HISTORIC PRESERVATION
DESIGNATION" BY INCLUDING THE FLAMINGO
HISTORIC PRESERVATION DISTRICT, MUSEUM
HISTORIC PRESERVATION DISTRICT, AND THE
FOLLOWING HISTORIC PRESERVATION SITES: COLLINS
PARK HOTEL LOCATED AT 2000 PARK AVENUE, ADAMS
HOTEL LOCATED AT 2030 PARK AVENUE, GOVERNOR
HOTEL LOCATED AT 435 21ST STREET, TYLER HOTEL
LOCATED AT 430 21ST STREET, SHEP DAVIS PLAZA
LOCATED AT 220 2 3RD STREET, PALM COURT LOCATED
AT 309 23RD STREET (INCLUDING 301-317 23RD
STREET AND 2312 LIBERTY AVENUE) , JAMES AVENUE
APARTMENTS LOCATED AT 1700 JAMES AVENUE,
GREENVIEW HOTEL LOCATED AT 1671 WASHINGTON
AVENUE, TEMPLE EMANU-EL LOCATED AT 1701
WASHINGTON AVENUE, AS DESCRIBED IN THE
AFOREMENTIONED DESIGNATION REPORTS; PROVIDING
FOR INCLUSION IN THE ZONING ORDINANCE;
PROVIDING FOR A REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, in accordance with Subsection 19-5 of Comprehensive
Zoning Ordinance No. 89-2665, the Historic Preservation Board and
Planning Board have adopted the attached Designation Reports and
have recommended the Historic Preservation Designations of the
Flamingo Historic Preservation District, Museum Historic
Preservation District, and the following Historic Preservation
Sites: Collins Park Hotel located at 2000 Park Avenue, Adams Hotel
located at 2030 Park Avenue, Governor Hotel located at 435 21ST
Street, Tyler Hotel located at 430 21ST Street, Shep Davis Plaza
located at 220 23RD Street, Palm Court located at 309 23RD Street
(including 301-317 23RD Street and 2312 Liberty Avenue) , James
Avenue Apartments located at 1700 James Avenue, Greenview Hotel
located at 1671 Washington Avenue, Temple Emanu-El located at 1701
Washington Avenue, as described in the aforementioned designation
reports and have recommended the amendment of said Zoning Ordinance
to include the new designations; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Board as Local Planning Agency for the
City of Miami Beach has determined that Historic Preservation
Designation of the above named sites and districts is consistent
with the City' s Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Subsections 19-5, C and 14-3 of Zoning
Ordinance No. 89-2665 the City Commission is required to hold a
public hearing to consider the recommendations of the Historic
Preservation Board and Planning Board.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a public hearing for
consideration of the aforementioned amendments to Comprehensive
Zoning Ordinance No. 89-2665 is hereby called to be held before the
City Commission in its Chambers on the Third Floor of City Hall,
1700 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida, on June 6, 1990
beginning at 4:05 p.m. , and the City Clerk is hereby authorized
and directed to publish appropriate notice of said public hearing
to be published in a newspaper of general circulation of the City
of Miami Beach, at which time and place all interested parties will
be heard.
