A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
RECOGNIZING THE NEEDS OF THE
CHILDREN OF THIS COMMUNITY, AND
THEREFORE, ESTABLISHING A BUREAU OF
CHILDREN'S AFFAIRS UNDER THE
AUSPICES OF THE ADMINISTRATION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest of
Beach to encourage and the City of Miami
g support a Bureau of Children's Affairs
act as a repository of information for thoseto
of this community; and
needs of the children
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Children 's Affairs would encourage
individuals and groups coordinate their efforts to promote the
optimum development of the children of '
this community; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Children's Affairs
would determine the
unmet or poorly met needs of
the children of this community; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Children's Affairs would seek out and
apply for funding the public and private sectors, in an
effort to meet the needs of the children of thiscommunity;community; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Children 's Affairs would
disseminate information about actively
the various services, activities,
opportunities, and special events for children and
and their families;
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Chi l dren 's Affairs would
clearinghouse to coordinate advocacyserve as a
of legislative matters
relating to children .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, OF
CityMiami that the City Commission of the

SUBJECT: RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AND ENCOURAGING THE ESTABLISHMENT
OF A BUREAU OF CHILDREN'S AFFAIRS
It has been recommended that an ombudsman-type organization be
established in order to ascertain and ensure that the needs of the
children of this community are being met.
The organization is to be known as the Bureau of Children's
Affairs, and shall serve as a repository for information relating
to the various programs and services that are available to the
children and families of the community.
The Bureau shall be private, non-profit, and self-supporting, and
shall seek funding for itself, and other agencies, through both
public and private sources with shared interests in the betterment
of the children of the community.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends that the City Commission pass and
adopt the attached resolution supporting and encouraging the
establishment of a Bureau of Children's Affairs as a private
non-profit corporation. Further, the Bureau shall act as to
coordinate advocacy of legislative matters relating to children
and, be a repository for information and services that are
available to children and their families.

Recognizing the needs of the children of
this community, and terefore, establishing
a Bureau of Children's Affairs under the
.-uspices of the administration of the
City of Miami Beach.
