A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH TO ACCEPT A DONATION OF
THE USE OF FOUR (4) OUTBOARD MOTORS FROM
BRUNSWICK MARINE POWER TO BE UTILIZED BY THE
MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR A ONE YEAR
PERIOD
WHEREAS, the Marine Patrol Unit of the Miami Beach Police
Department is responsible for patrolling the waterways surrounding
the City of Miami Beach and enforcing the laws governing the
waterways; and
WHEREAS, the Marine Patrol Unit currently utilizes two boats
which have been in continuous service since 1988 . The motors on
each of the two police boats are in need of repair on a constant
basis as they are worn out, and the maintenance expenses have
become cost prohibitive; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for the continued services which the
Marine Patrol Unit provides and a need for this operation to run
efficiently and not be hampered by boat equipment which cannot
function; and
WHEREAS, Brunswick Marine Power is offering a donation of the
following Mariner outboards for test, evaluation and use by the
Miami Beach Police Department for a one year period:
2 - 200 XL
2 - 200CXL
with the provision that they can photograph the product being used
for promotional and testimonial advertising usage and with the
right of the City to purchase the motors at 50% of dealer price.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that in recognition of the
legitimate need for an efficiently operational Miami Beach Police
Department Marine Patrol Unit, we the Mayor and City Commission of
the City of Miami Beach do hereby accept Brunswick Marine Power ' s
donation to the City which allows the Miami Beach Police Department
use of four (4) outboard motors to power the police boats for a one
year period, with no liability on the part of the City, nor
responsibility on the part of the City for repairs and/or
maintenance, and the right to purchase same at the end of the one
year period at 50% of dealer price, all as set forth in the
attached letters.

SUBJECT: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF FOUR (4)
OUTBOARD MOTORS FROM BRUNSWICK MARINE POWER TO BE
UTILIZED BY THE MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT MARINE
PATROL UNIT
The Marine Patrol Unit of the Miami Beach Police Department,
responsible for patrolling the City' s waterways and enforcing the
laws governing the waterways cannot continue to operate efficiently
without the benefit of new engines to power the police boats
currently in use. Brunswick Marine Power has offered the Marine
Patrol Unit the use of four (4) outboard motors in exchange for the
ability to photograph and advertise the motors while being used by
the police boats.
ADMINISTRATIVE RECOMMENDATION:
The City Administration recommends the acceptance of four (4)
outboard motors from Brunswick Marine Power to be utilized by the
Miami Beach- Police Department Marine Patrol Unit.
