A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING IN
CONCEPT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TELEVISING
COMMISSION MEETINGS IN THEIR ENTIRETY ON A
CABLE TELEVISION GOVERNMENT CHANNEL.
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City
Commission that City Commission Meetings can be broadcast on cable
television for a very reasonable cost; and
WHEREAS, the City' s cable television franchisee, Gold Cost
Cablevision, has agreed to install, without any charge to the City
of Miami Beach, the necessary equipment to link the City of Miami
Beach Commission chambers with the cable television system. This
will include installation of cable equipment, amplification and
transmission of the signal and listing of the Commission meetings
in Gold Coast Cablevision's program schedule; and
WHEREAS, the cost to the City would be the one-time purchase
of two video cameras and related equipment at a cost of
approximately $15, 200 and the cost for a technician of $4 , 800 per
year; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission believes that it is in the best
interest of the citizens of Miami Beach to make City Commission
meetings in their entirety available to cable television
subscribers in the City of Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that:
1) Implementation of the broadcast of City Commission
meetings on cable television is hereby approved in
concept.
2) The City Administration is hereby instructed to find a
funding source to implement the $15, 200 start up cost and
the $4 ,800 annual operating cost.
3) The City Administration is instructed to implement this
program as soon as feasible.
