PUBLIC HEARINIS FOR RE-ACCREDITATION
Date: August 5, 2003
This Letter to the Commission is to invite the Mayor and City Commissioners to participate
in the Public Information Session portion of the Police Department's Re-Accreditation
program.
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), and the
Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA), has scheduled the Miami
Beach Police Department for an On-Site Assessment as part of a program to achieve re-
accreditation for the Police Department. The Re-Accreditation program requires agencies
to comply with standards that address Police Department policies and procedures,
administration, operations, and support services.
As part of the On-Site Assessment, agency employees and members of the community are
invited to offer comments at a Public Information Session scheduled for Monday, August
25, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. The session will be conducted in the City Commission Chambers,
City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida 3313. Agency employees
and the public are invited to offer comments by calling (305) 673-7776, extension 5853 on
Monday, August 25, 2003, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Comments will be
taken by the CALEA Assessors. Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the
Public Information Sessions should address the agency's ability to comply with CALEA and
CFA standards.
Persons wishing to submit written comments may send them to the Commission on
Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 10302 Eaton Place, Suite 100, Fairfax,
Virginia, 22030-2215, (800) 368-3757, FAX (703) 591-2206 and the Commission for
Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA), 3504 Lake Lynda Ddve, Suite 380, Orlando,
