Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI),
the project’s consultant, and
the City of Miami Beach
Public Works Department
initiated project efforts in
early 2019 and have made
significant headway toward
finalizing recommendations
for citywide lighting
standards.

JCI conducted an ideation session with City of Miami Beach department representatives and members of the Miami Beach Police department to shape the purpose of the project and gather initial feedback.

The team then proceeded with an
Urban Lighting Inventory where
JCI captured data in 11 different
zones about more than 9,000
City-owned street lighting fixtures.
These areas included
commercial, residential,
entertainment, beaches and
parks.
