Re: 1995 NIMLO Conference
Dear Mr. Brown:
On behalf of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Miami
Beach, as evidenced by the enclosed resolution, I am pleased to
present herewith the City of Miami Beach's proposal to be the Host
City of the 1995 NIMLO Conference. As you will see from the
attached materials, the City of Miami Beach is experiencing a
rejuvenation as a convention destination, marked especially by the
newly expanded Convention Center and the extensive rehabilitation
in the Art Deco District. The City of Miami Beach has become a
professional photographers paradise. Public funds in excess of 150
million dollars have been expended in the City of Miami Beach in
the last seven years to improve and enlarge the City' s convention
facilities, rehabilitate the Theater of the Performing Arts, and
improve other public facilities and infrastructure.
The Fontainebleau Hotel has agreed to act as the host hotel and its
bid documents are contained in the attached proposal.
The City of Miami Beach is prepared to undertake each of the host
city requirements set forth in the request for proposal. In this
regard, please note that the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors
Bureau has agreed to sponsor the Board of Directors Dinner as well
as provide 50 man hours of registration assistance, in addition to
a City information desk for the duration of the conference. The
City will sponsor or arrange for sponsorship for a welcome
reception and cocktail party. The City will also seek sponsorship
for the Monday dinner.
