Members Present: Karmenchu Santana-Vega, Yvette Tache, Judith Berson-Levinson, Mary
Keinath, Ivan Alvarez, Beth Edwards, Monica Matteo-Santinas, Susie Stern, Joshua LevY,
Karen Edelstein, Tiva Leser, and Rachel Weissman.

Review Minutes from January meeting and approve
1. Arts Field Trips – Commissioner Aleman deffered
2. Medical Marijuana Ordinance from March 13 Commission meeting – Commissioner
Malakoff deferred
3. Moonlighter Program Update – Commissioner Arriola deferred
4. Meeting dates quarterly discussion will continue with monthly meetings
5. Youth Music Festival – March 9, 2019 outcome a success and very well attended
6. 41st Street crosswalk letter to FDOT status discussed with members to reach out directly
7. Beach High Field Commission contribution update from January meeting status
discussed with city contributing $250,000, MDCPS $250,000, and NFL $250,000.
Additional $100,000 for match as well/
8. STEAM Plus Enhancement Status discussed and well underway. Some concerns were
voiced by members, specifically inappropriate artwork at the Bass Museum and teacher
concern for additional responsibilities.
9. Educational Enhancement task force meeting dates to discuss Convention Center Hotel
rent contribution to Educational Enhancements (Unfunded Educational Enhancement list
review per 2017 education compact survey) – First meeting moved to May at 9:15 am

10. Medical Marijuana shop Feb. Commission meeting motion 1,200 foot distance and
smoke shop on 41st street land use meeting April 2019 discussion of motions from QEC

11. Pending MDCPS Feeder Questions: Computer lab count (inventory of computer labs for
testing, unfunded capital needs
12. Youth Commission motion vaping and e-cigarette info trolleys and trolley stops
13. Debris Free Oceans (Caiti Waks) deferred to May
14. Miami Beach Drop off lane - Bayshore Traffic Study Josiel Ferrer deferred
15. School zone at Fienberg Espanola and Drexel discussed and on NCAC agenda
