A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REPEALING
RESOLUTION NO. 90-19864, WHICH ESTABLISHED AN
ADVISORY CHARTER REVIEW AND REVISION BOARD;
CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A NEW ADVISORY
CHARTER REVIEW AND REVISION BOARD; PRESCRIBING
ITS DUTIES, AND PROVIDING FOR THE MANNER OF
APPOINTMENT, AND THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF ITS
MEMBERS.
WHEREAS, the City Commission believes that portions of the
City' s Charter and Related Laws may be outdated, ambiguous, in
conflict with State and/or federal law or otherwise in need of
revision in order to meet current and future needs of the citizens
of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission believes that review and revision
of the City' s Charter and Related Laws is important to the welfare
of the citizens of the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 90-19864 , adopted on January 3 , 1990
established an advisory Charter Review and Revision Board
consisting of eleven members, each appointed for a one (1) year
term of office; and
WHEREAS, a quorum was never appointed to said Board and the
terms of office of the members who were appointed have expired; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission believes that review and revision
of the City' s Charter and Related Laws can best be accomplished by
creation and appointment of a new advisory Charter Review and
Revision Board as set forth herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that Resolution No. 90-19864 ,
which established an advisory Charter Review and Revision Board, is
hereby repealed, and that a new advisory board to be known as "The
City of Miami Beach Charter Review and Revision Board" be and the
same is hereby created, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1. Said Board shall consist of seven (7) members, each to be
appointed by a majority vote of the City Commission. The Board
shall be comprised of at least one attorney who is a member of the
Florida Bar in good standing; at least one certified public

with State and federal law, to delete inapplicable provisions, to
clarify ambiguities, to add and revise provisions where necessary
to meet current and future needs of the citizens of the City, and
to suggest, where necessary, changes affecting the distribution of
powers and duties of public officials and of the Administration.
